Ring In Beauty by Celebrating New Year's in Prague!

Prague is clearly a magical place to spend the end-of-year celebrations. And particularly if you missed the December Christmas markets or the Christmas celebrations, you can still make up lost time with a stay over New Year's. Renting an Apartment in Prague over New Year's

Ideally, in order to make sure that your arrangements allow you to relax and to devote yourself entirely to the revelry, the best thing to do is to rent a multi-person apartment: the more people there are, the more laughter there will be, and it also becomes possible to reduce some costs that will necessarily be a bit larger because New Year's is THE time when everyone comes to party in the Czech capital. And for those who will visit as a couple, an apartment in Prague will allow you to enjoy a romantic sojourn in a little cocoon, where you can live as you do at home... It's also always a nice fallback solution if you want to avoid crammed restaurants!

Celebrating in a Bar, a Restaurant or On a Boat

For all those who, on the other hand, are keen to go all out with the revelry and to meet other revellers, Prague offers numerous possibilities! For example, for prices ranging between 1000 and 1800 CZK, the Hangar Bar in Old Town offers an original New Year's experience. Entry price includes a gourmet dinner, Venetian masks to wear for the evening, musicians playing old songs and a DJ for the core of the evening until 6am. Aviation is the theme of the bar, and you will be served by waitresses in Pan Am uniforms! Retro ambience guaranteed! 

In another style, you can choose to get out on the water for the entire New Year's evening on a jazz cruise ship. The Czechs are known for being great musicians, and jazz occupies a very particular place in Prague, which is peppered with jazz clubs. This cruise will show you the most beautiful views of Prague by night, and for 2750 CZK, you will enjoy a hot and cold buffet, a welcome drink and Czech champagne, all while taking in a live jazz concert.

To celebrate while letting loose to the music of your youth, there is nothing like an evening at the Lucerna Music Bar, two steps from Wenceslas Square: all the big hits of the 80s and 90s will carry you gracefully along into the new year as if there were nothing to it!

Classical Music for Finishing the Year Up Well

In a more composed vein, Prague wouldn't be a music city if it didn't offer New Year's concerts. You will be embarrassed for choice between Vivaldi's Four Seasons at the St. Salvator Church from 1pm on the 31st of December and from 4pm on the two following days, the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra's New Year's concert at 4pm on the 31st of December in the magnificent Municipal House, and the one held in the Rudolfinum at the same time.

For those who like to prolong the magic of Christmas, there's nothing better than seeing or re-seeing Tchaïkovsky's The Nutcracker at the Prague National Theatre at 3pm on December 31st. For its part, the Prague State Opera is holding a New Year's evening with a buffet, unlimited drinks, a showing of Strauss' Die Fledermaus (The Bat), a welcome drink and a glass of champagne at midnight. The latter part of the evening will be filled with swing music and dancing on the Opera stage!.

The Prague Sky Lit Up by Fireworks

At midnight on December 31st, like everywhere else, Prague lights up with fireworks launched from all corners of the city. But the official fireworks, organized by the City of Prague, actually take place the next day from 6pm. They will be launched from Letná Hill and will last about ten minutes. To be sure to get the best view, take up a position on the Prague bridges (the Legions, Čech, Mánes or Charles bridges), on the quais (Smetana or Dvořák), or alternatively right up high on the Petřín or Letná hills. Don't forget viewing positions that are a bit further away from the city centre: Riegrovy Sady Park in the Vinohrady neighbourhood or Vítkov Hill both offer excellent unobstructed views!

You could also choose to double up and enjoy both the fireworks as well as an outing in a boat on the Vltava River. 

And don't forget, after having well and properly rung in the New Year, in a boat, on an opera stage, or in a bar, to make a few good resolutions for the year to come! Maybe even to come back to Prague in the future to again enjoy all that the Czech capital has to offer!
